Free iPhone Apps

my.SXSW is the official app for getting the most out of the South by Southwest Conferences and Festivals this March 12 – 21 in Austin, Texas. The iPhone app allows you to view/build your schedule, map conference and festival events each hour, exchange contact info with people you meet, strike up conversations via the live message board, view news, and search events, and venues all from your phone!
You can build your schedule online at my.sxsw.com or directly on your phone, and your information will be synced so you always have your up-to-date schedule!

Features:

Schedule – Search/browse the entire event list, filter by category, sub-category, track, time, and venue. Click into events to get details, add to your schedule, see/listen to pictures, video, and audio.

Map – See by the hour which events are close to you and which of your friends are around as well. Easily hook up with friends, sneak in an extra show, or plot your custom SXSW schedule on a map.

Search – Find latest events and venues by keywords. For registrants, find other attendees, click into their details and send them your DUB card. Once they accept your DUB card, the app automatically exchanges your contact info with them so you always have their latest contact info in your phone’s address book and vice-versa.

News – View featured, interactive, film, and music news feeds.

My Card – Extend your my.SXSW profile to include IMs, Social Networks, etc. for your DUB card. Send your DUB card to anyone using their email address or mobile phone number with the iPhone “action button” in the top right. Once they accept your card, any changes you make to your card will automatically update their phone’s address book and vica-versa.

Messaging – Participate in live discussion about events, provide recommendations and reviews, or get advice on where to eat and drink.

Notifications – Get notified of new DUB cards and choose to add them to your address book.

Info – We want to make it easy for you to get the most out of the show and our app, so the new “Info” tab gives you a one-stop shop for FAQs, support contacts, and our my.SXSW app blog.


Note: You can create a new DUB account or link to your existing one. A DUB account is required to use any of the online syncing features of the app.

Entranced offers a new kind of play: an entirely new design lets musical cues move anywhere in the 3D world.

Enter the luminous worlds hidden in the sound of music!

In these Songworlds, sounds made by different instruments form unique shapes, called Glyphs. Glyphs fly in mesmerizing formations gathering energy from the Songworld.

As each Glyph zooms around the world, the Halo surrounding it gradually collapses, signaling that it's almost time to touch. Touch it during the flash and the Glyph blooms into a beautiful splash of color and energy! Inside every Glyph another vision awaits you.

Some Glyphs appear together in Patterns. Touch the Patterns in sequence to release even more energy and beautiful visuals. Together the visuals combine to form a lightshow, an artwork you reveal and create.

Tracers are Glyphs that are created from special parts of the music. Watch for Glyphs that have tails like a comet. Tracers add extra challenge, so they release the most energy of all. Explore the hidden beauty in the music.

Songworlds can be revisited any time, so be as playful as you want!

Put on your headphones to hear the most subtle sounds!

Sounds made by different instruments form unique Glyph shapes. Glyphs represent notes from any instrument in a song, not just the rhythm section, so listen well! Touch just after the Halo meets the Glyph's edges, when the Glyph expands and flashes in time with the music.

Patterns represent a string of notes from the same instrument; all of the glyphs in that pattern will look and move alike. The first one to enter is the first you tap.

Tracers represent long musical events like smooth vocal melodies. Touch a Tracer and keep pressing to follow it across the screen. Each Songworld generates its own style of Tracer. Once you learn the flight path of each, you'll become a master.

As you progress in the Songworld, you'll explore almost all of the different instruments that make up the music and switch from one to another frequently. Keep in mind that some instruments happen between drum beats. You'll catch the more subtle sounds if you let your mind expand, listen carefully, and watch glyphs flow.

If you fall behind, just relax and watch for a while, or go after only the Glyphs that seem obvious to you. If you miss a glyph and hit the wrong spot, you'll see a red ring where you touched and lose a bit of energy. No worries!?
